Bunratty Castle and Folk Park are excited to invite local primary schools to participate in our 2024 Halloween Scarecrow Design Competition. Let your class's creativity shine and design and build a Halloween scarecrow that integrates multiple curriculum areas.

Create the ultimate Halloween scarecrow and win a massive €1,000 prize for your school!

  • 1st Prize: €1,000 for the overall spooktacular scarecrow!
  • 2nd Prize: €500 for the most sustainable creation! 
  • 3rd Prize: €500 for the most innovative design!

Showcase your Creative Flair

This isn't your average scarecrow contest!
We are looking for scarecrows that showcase:
  • Creative Flair: Let your imaginations run wild! Give your scarecrow a spine-tingling story and a unique personality.
  • Curriculum Connection: Weave in learning from subjects like Social Studies, SPHE, and Art! Make your scarecrow truly educational.
  • Sustainable Superstars: Show off your school's commitment to the environment! Use natural materials and eco-friendly practices to create a scarecrow that's good for the planet.
  • Community Champions: Highlight how your school brings people together! Make a scarecrow that celebrates inclusion and community spirit.

Competition Guidelines

How to Enter

Here's what you need to do:

  1. Gather your team! Work together to design and build your masterpiece.

  2. Register your entry by October 14th: Send your school name, class(es) involved, and scarecrow details using the application form below to marie.brennan@shannonheritage.com

  3. Create your scarecrow! Use natural materials and make it sturdy enough to withstand the elements.

  4. Deliver your scarecrow: The deadline for delivery is on or before Wednesday, 23rd October 2024. Please contact us ahead of delivery to arrange access.

An independent panel will judge the entries, with the winner announced in late November! The winning school will be featured on social media! Get ready for your moment in the spotlight!
