Join us this St. Patrick's Weekend for a fun-filled day celebrating the very best of Irish Culture, on Sunday March 15th, 10.30am to 5pm.

Highlights include traditional Irish music and dance, meet St. Patick, Irish legends and fables with Finegas the Druid, the Dancing Leprechaun disco and much more.

There is something for all ages to enjoy on a visit to Bunratty Castle and Folk Park this St Patrick's weekend!

Turn the Village Street Green

Join the Dancing Leprechaun Disco!

For one day only, Bunratty Castle and Folk Park turns green for a St. Patrick's Day celebration bursting with colour, music and Irish cheer. 

Step into the Village Street and join our merry band of dancing leprechauns for a St. Patrick's themed disco, packed with music and laughter. Little revellers can dance their hearts out while taking part in a host of entertaining activities including shamrock face painting, perfect for adding a splash of green and getting into the St Patrick's spirit.

Adding to the fun, our talented balloon twister will be on hand creating amazing balloons creations - a big hit with younger visitors and the perfect keepsake for a memorable day out.

Our Beloved Patron Saint

Meet our beloved patron saint, the man who inspires us to turn the whole country green each year! St. Patrick will be making a very special visit to Bunratty Castle and Folk Park on Sunday 15th March, and he can't wait to meet you.

Be sure to say hello as he greets visitors on arrival outside the admissions area, offering a warm Irish welcome and the perfect photo opportunity to mark your St. Patrick's Day celebrations at Bunratty.

Step Dancers

We are delighted to welcome some of the finest dancers from our local area, including world champion competitors, for a thrilling showcase of Irish step dancing. With energetic gigs and reels performed in celebration of our national day, these captivating performances are truly something special.

Don't miss these spectacular shows taking place in the Great Hall of Bunratty Castle at 1.30pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm on Sunday 15th March. A standout highlight of the day's St. Patrick's festivities.

Demonstrations and Displays

Vintage Agricultural Machinery 
Joining us on the day will be members of the Clare Vintage and Engine Tractor Club. Come and witness an array of vintage agricultural machinery at work including corn grinders, water pumps and mini threshing machine. Learn about their passion and care for these machines and practices involved in their operation.

IRISH FABLES AND MUSIC

Step back in time

Irish fables and legends with Finegas the Druid
Step into a world of myth and magic and enjoy captivating Irish fables and legends with Finegas the Druid. Listen as he weaves jaw dropping tales of legendary Druids, their mystical powers, and the heroes and creatures that once roamed Ireland's past.

Audiences of all ages are guaranteed to be on the edge of their seats as tales as old as time are brought to life. These enchanting storytelling sessions take place in the Shannon Farmhouse from 11am to 1.30pm and from 2pm to 5pm.
 
Traditional Music Seisiún
Enjoy a lively traditional music seisiún where musicians come together from midday for an afternoon of toe tapping tunes. Expect lively reels and familiar airs as the music flows and the celebrations get into full swing. 

Bring along your own instrument and join in as we celebrate St Patrick's weekend in style.

Family Friendly Fun

For younger visitors we have a fun and interactive Clue Trail to follow that will bring you and your family to all corners of the park, meeting lots of colourful characters along the way. Learn all about Ireland in the olden days, meet some of some adorable animals and explore our many woodland trails. 

Simply download the clue trail exercise booklet down below or scan the QR code at admissions on arrival and enjoy a fun filled journey around Bunratty Castle and Folk Park, whist learning all about its history!

Butter Making Demonstrations

Step inside the Golden Vale Farmhouse and meet our welcoming Bean an Tí who will share stories of daily life in a bustling rural Irish home. Discover how families lived and worked, and gain a fascinating insight into the traditions that shaped everyday life in the countryside.

During your visit, enjoy traditional butter making demonstrations at 12pm and 3pm where you'll see first hand how real Irish butter was made using age-old techniques passed down through generations. A wonderful mix of heritage and hands-on tradition, get a true glimpse of Ireland's past with our Bean an Tí at the Golden Vale Farmhouse.
