Welcome to Bunratty Castle & Folk Park

Bunratty Castle and Folk Park represent Medieval Life and early 20th Century Rural Life in Ireland.

The park includes more than 30 buildings spread across a bustling village and rural farms, shops and quiet walking trails. Meet our colourful villages characters, always eager to have a chat. From the Bean an TI’s baking over an open fire, to the village musician eager to play a lively tune or moving melody. You'll also see native animals in their natural environment and learn about their importance in rural Irish life in the 19th century. From pygmy goats and Kerry Bog Ponies, to native red deer and our majestic Irish wolfhounds, there is something for everyone to discover.

Built in 1425, is one of the most complete and authentic medieval castles in Ireland

Cross the drawbridge and explore the castle’s many interesting rooms including the Main Guard, where the common soldiers and officers were housed, The Great Hall where many a feast and banquet was held, along with the Earl’s bedrooms, private study, castle chapel, kitchens and more. Admire the beautiful 15th and 16th tapestries that adore the castle walls and hear stories of battles and bravery, sieges and sagas that have befell this mighty fortress over it’s long history.
