CHRISTMAS TRAIL OF LIGHTS 2021

All the way from the North Pole, a magical letter arrived on the doorstep of Bunratty Castle from no less than Santa Claus, advising us that he delighted to announce he will be returning to Bunratty Castle and Folk Park this year for our magical Trail of Lights experience.

With a little sprinkling of magical fairy dust over this quaint little corner of County Clare Santa has created a magical illuminated festive trail for all to enjoy!
 
Join us on an enchanted walk through the winter woodlands and twinkling lights of Bunratty Folk Park and you never know you might even catch a glimpse of the big man in the red suit before he jets off to his workshop in the North Pole!

Booking Procedure

TO BOOK – PLEASE READ THIS INFORMATION CAREFULLY
To purchase your tickets  email christmas@shannonheritage.com and include your preferred date, time, numbers of tickets you wish to purchase and your contact telephone number. There will be 7 x 2 hour time slots per day at 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm, 6pm and 7pm.

Tickets are priced at €15 for Adults, €15 for Children aged 3 -18 and under 2 years are free of charge.

As this event is extremely busy please allow up to 72 hours while we get back to you with confirmation of your reservation.

** PLEASE NOTE: Christmas Trail of Lights does not include a gift and personal meet & greet with Santa.

 

Santa's Special Greeting from Bunratty Castle

Santa Claus, still mindful of social distancing, will be making a special visit to the drawbridge of Bunratty Castle to deliver a very special Christmas message for all the boys and girls, promising that he will be visiting them on Christmas Eve before taking off to his workshop in the North Pole leaving his most important personnel in the park to hold down the fort in his absence!

**Please note Santa will not be offering personal visits in his grotto this year**

Follow the Festive Trail

Follow the Trail of Lights and stumble upon festive illuminated displays including the Abominable Snowman of Bunrattythe Giant Christmas Jumper of the Earl of Thomond, the twinkling lights of the Bunratty House and Ardcroney Church, a Traditional Nativity Scene and much more!

There will also be a number of new displays added for 2021 including a giant igloo and more to be announced.

Meet colourful characters at every turn

Pop by the Golden Vale Farmhouse and say hello to Mrs Claus as she busily prepares for Christmas Day. Take a stroll past the Corn Barn where Santa has relocated some of his “COE’s” (Chief Operating Elves) and watch them as they build and wrap Christmas gifts in preparation for Christmas Eve!
 
The Village Street, as always, will be illuminated for the occasion with seasonal characters, including Scrooge, The Grinch, The Fairy Princess and Jack Frost on hand to enthral and entertain you as you make your way through this magical festive trail.

RETURNING FOR 2021

Train Rides, Carousel Rides & Puppet Shows

We are thrilled to announce for 2021 the return of the ever popular Bunratty Polar Express Train and our traditional Victorian and Kiddies Carousels

Hop on board the Bunratty Polar Express and enjoy a magical train ride through the woodland wonderland that is Bunratty Folk Park. Pass our enchanting fairy village, the twinkling lights of Bunratty House and Ardcrony Church with many more delightful displays inbetween.

Take a whirl of our Traditional Victorian or Kiddies Carosuel Rides and experience the true spirit of Christmas with family and friends.

Also back for 2021 is our fun, festive puppet shows! A firm favourite with families of all ages, these delightful performances will run several times daily and are guaranteed to get you into the festive spirit.

Giving and Wishing Tree

We are delighted to announce the return of our special Christmas Wishing Tree and Giving Tree as part of our 2021 festive experience. At the Wishing Tree we are encouraging visitors to bring along a special message to place on the tree with your wishes, dreams and hopes for the year ahead.
 
Our Giving Tree is a very special part of our festive experience this year and will be in aid of a local children's charity..

We are encouraging all who visit Bunratty this festive season to bring along a gift, if possible, to place under the tree, which we in turn will donate  on December 23rd.

Food and Drinks 

Throughout the duration of the Christmas Trail of Lights experience, there will be numberous dining options open to enjoy a sweet festive treat or savoury snack. From freshly brewed barista coffess and sweet bakes of  to hot food and snacks.

Our Coffee Truck located enroute to the castle and our tea rooms will be serving an array of hot and festive drinks.
If it is something stronger you seek, Macs Pub, located at the top of the Village Street serves a selection of craft beers, wines and spirits.

Find that Perfect Christmas Gift

Our Bunratty Craft and Design Store will be open throughout the festive period selling an array of seasonal themed gifts and decorations, homewares, jewelry, knitwear, toys and more. The perfect one stop shop for all your Christmas shopping, be sure to stop on by and pick up that perfect present with our helpful team on hand happy to offer advice and recommendations on the perfect Christmas gift.

As this is an outdoor trail, we advise visitors wrap up warm and wear waterproof clothes as the weather in the West of Ireland can be inclement at times during December. The trail may be muddy in parts, so wellies or waterproof boots are recommended for adults and children alike.
