GENERAL 

Q: What time does the site close every evening?
On the evenings we operate our Christmas Event, the site closes at 8.30p.m. sharp.  Please note however the last slot that Santa can be booked is 7pm. 

Q. What are the general opening times at Bunratty Castle and Folk Park over the Christmas period?

  • Friday  22nd November – 9am-8.30pm (last admission to folk park 7pm)
  • Saturday 23rd – Sunday 24th November – 9am-8.30pm (last admission to folk park 7pm)
  • Monday 25th- Wednesday 27th November – 9am-5.30pm (last admission to folk park 4.30pm)
  • Friday 29th November to Sunday 1st December – 9am-8.30pm (last admission to folk park 7pm)
  • Monday 2nd December – Wednesday  4th December – 9am-5.30pm (last admission to folk park 4.30pm)
  • Thursday 5th-Sunday 8th December – 9am-8.30pm (last admission to folk park 7pm)
  • Monday 9th to Wednesday 11th December -9am-5.30pm (last admission to folk park 4.30pm)
  • Thursday 12th – Sunday 22nd December – 9am-8.30pm (last admission to folk park 7pm)
  • Monday 23rd December – 9am-6pm (last admission to folk park 4.30pm)

Q. Are there specific times for the activities?
Most activities work on a roll over basis (except for activities requiring pre-booking (Santa, Ice Rink). The puppet/magic times are advertised daily on the Village Street.

Q. Can I bring a buggy into the grotto?
Yes

Q. Is there wheelchair access to Christmas experience?
Yes - however the paths in Bunratty Folk Park are uneven in places and there are some cobble stones in the perimeter of the Village Street. During inclement weather certain paths will be muddy. Please note the Castle is not wheelchair accessible.
 
Q. What are the opening hours for the Castle ?
Bunratty Castle opens at 9.00am and closes promptly daily at 4.00p.m.
Access to the banquet hall is closed to the public during weekend mornings. You may experience ques on weekend days from 9am - 9:30am

Q. Are there dining facilities on site?
Yes there are a number of dining options including O'Regan’s Cafe, Bunratty Tea Rooms Mac's Pub and a food truck.
 
Q. Is it advisable to make dining reservations in advance?
No reservations are not required as there is a constant turnover of tables. We regret tables cannot be held at this busy time.

Q: What is not included in my ticket price?
Souvenir Photo and access to Ice Rink. The Ice Rink must be booked in advance while the photo is payable on the day.

Q. What is the lost child policy?
We request that notification of lost child be made to our Admissions desk where you check in for Santa.  Please notify supervisory staff on duty. 

Q. Can I take photos and vidoes inside Bunratty Castle and Folk Park?
Of Course. Find us on FACEBOOK and follow us on INSTAGRAM and tag us in your pictures!

Q: Can I visit Bunratty Castle and Folk Park during this period and not visit Santa?
Yes Normal Admission rates apply. Visit https://www.bunrattycastle.ie/book-tickets/ to purchase tickets.

Q. I have Tesco/Viator Vouchers, can these be used to purchase my Christmas Experience?
No, these vouchers are invalid and out of date for all events and day visit tickets.

SANTA'S GROTTO

Q. What is the procedure upon arrival?
When you arrive please check in at Admissions giving your name and time of booking.  You will proceed in the company of our Elves to Santa Registration in the Corn Barn. Once you have registered your children can partake in the games and you can enjoy some refreshments while you wait to be called.

Q. Do I have to arrive exactly at the set appointment time?
No, you can arrive before the appointed time but we kindly request that you register with 'Santa registration' upon arrival. If your appointment time is after 6pm We recommend you arrive a minimum of 1 hour earlier to avail of all the entertainment and experiences on offer. Please note the Christmas experience closes sharply at 8.30pm.
 
Q. If my appointed time is for example 5.00p.m. do I get to visit Santa at exactly 5.00p.m?
No – you have been given an hourly slot. You will see Santa between 5.00p.m. and 6.00p.m. You will be advised of your time upon arrival at Santa Registration and an Elf will guide you to Santa’s Grotto.

Q. What hours does the Santa experience operate at Bunratty Castle and Folk Park?
  • There are varying times:
  • Friday  22nd November – 16:00-20:00 (last admission to folk park 7pm)
  • Saturday 23rd – Sunday 24th November – 12:00- 20:00 (last admission to folk park 7pm)
  • Friday 29th November to Sunday 1st December – 9am-8.30pm (last admission to folk park 7pm)
  • Thursday 5th-Sunday 8th December – 16:00 - 20:00 (last admission to folk park 7pm)
  • Thursday 12th – Sunday 22nd December – 12:00 - 20:00 (last admission to folk park 7pm)
  • Monday 23rd December – 10:00 - 18:00 (last admission to folk park 4.30pm)
Q. What is included in the Santa experience?
Mrs. Claus in the Golden Vale farmhouse preparing treats and making sure Santa's suit is washed and ironed for his big trip and much more:
  • Personal visit with Santa Claus and gift.
  • Full day access of the Christmas village at Bunratty Folk Park

BREAKFAST WITH SANTA

Q. When does breakfast with Santa Start?
Breakfast with Santa will start on Saturday November 30th and every Saturday and Sunday morning throughout December.

Q. What time does breakfast with Santa Start?
Check in commences at 9am, event commences at 9.30am

Q. Where does breakfast with with Santa take place?
Breakfast with Santa takes place in the Banquet Hall within Bunratty Castle

ICE RINK

Q. How can I book an Ice Rink Ticket?
Ice Rink tickets can only be booked when booking the Santa Grotto Experience or Santa's Breakfast. 

Q. I cant see the Ice Rink tickets on the main booking page, where can I find this?
On checkout, you will be given the option to book an Ice Rink slot as long as you have selected a Santa's Grotto Experience.

CHRISTMAS BANQUETS

Q. What are the time of the banquets?
A. 7. 15 to 9.15 PM

Q. Do we need to make a reservation?
A. Yes- please call our reservations team on 061 711 22 or email reservations@shannonheritage.com

Q. Do Christmas Banquets operate every night?
A. Our Christmas Banquets runs on selected nights in November & December

Q. Do you provide a children’s menu?
A. No. However, we will offer a child’s portion
 
Q. Do you serve beer and spirits at the banquet?
A. No. We only serve mead, red/white wine , soft drinks and water. Tea/Coffee is served in the basement after the banquet is finished
 
Q. Is there a vegetarian option?
A. Yes, we can offer a vegetarian tartlet served with vegetables and potatoes
 
Q. Do you take of care of special dietary requests?
A. Yes, you must order any such request in advance (12 hours)
 
Q. What is the duration of the banquet?
A.  The banquet is a 2 hour show
 
Q. Can we request special seating?
A. Yes, however, this is at the discretion of the duty manager who prepares a seating plan on the night. We cannot guarantee any particular seating.
 
Q. Is Mac’s Bar open after the banquet?
A.  Mac’s bar will be open for a post banquet drink on selected dates. Please check with reservations.
 
Q. Can we stay on in the castle after the banquet?
A. No. You are expected to leave the castle once the show is over

Q. What is included in the Banquet ticket price?
Guests are invited to enjoy a three-course festive feast, complete with house wines and a memorable Christmas themed musical performance in the medieval surrounds of the castle’s elegant banquet hall.

Q. Do you offer accommodation?
We do not offer accommodation but we do offer our magnificent Knappogue Castle stateroom- located just 30 minutes from Bunratty Castle- why not  pamper yourself with a night in a castle!

The Bunratty area is well served with hotel’s & B & B’s.


 Q. How do I get to the Banquet?
Bunratty is just 20 minutes from Limerick City Centre & Shannon Town Centre, &  30 minutes from Ennis Town Center. All taxi companies serve Bunratty from Limerick, Shannon & Ennis.
Dublin Coach  and Expressway also offer a regular service from Limerick City Centre, Shannon & Ennis to Bunratty
